Shoot to Score - bass session (Anatomy of a song Part 2)
(Webb)
August 30, 2009
Aug. 28th, 2009. Bass recording session for the new WEBB song "Shoot to Score". The session took place from 7pm to 9pm in the evening. The first hour of the session the engineer, Mike and I worked on getting set up to record and adjusting the sound for the raw recording. Mike and I also had a short discussion about how the bass and guitar parts of "Shoot to Score" would fit together in the final mixed version. This video is of a completely clean take of the bass part done by Mike during the second hour of the session. Mike plays the song with only the rough drum mix as a reference (the drum mix that you can hear along with the bass). Mike plays the entire arrangement from memory with no cues or written notes. If you watch the drum session video you can see the differences in the personalities of Mike and Jeremy. The foot in the lower right corner of the video is mine.
