Webb: Bio

The band started with the music. That is to say Dave Webb started writing songs with the intention of recording an album. From this songwriting and recording project the band WEBB formed. Dave not being a singer searched for several months for a great singer and in the end found soul/metal vocalist Mike Simpson. Dave and Mike along with drummer Atilla Turi (ex. The Kings) and Tom Lewis (Tom Cochrane and Red Rider) recorded the album PowerPlay at Mainway Studio in Burlington, Ontario. Atilla and Tom were not interested in continuing with the band so well known Toronto area drummer Jeremy Kleynhans joined the band. Mike took on double duty to cover the vacant bass position and WEBB became the complete three piece Canadian rock band it is today.

Mike Simpson - vocals and bass

Born in Canada. Currently living in Toronto, Canada. Mike's vocal style is a blend of attitudes and influences. Mike lists as his vocal influnces singers such as James Hetfield, Phil Anselmo, Tom Waits, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, James Brown, Clarence Carter, Marvin Gaye, Mavis Staples and Lynn Collins.
As Mike says "I try to bridge the gap- I usually sing rough regardless ... I try not to insert too much testosterone or rock type attitude in soul or funk parts, and try not to put too many inflections or grunts or whatever in the metal stuff."
"The unifying thread between the two styles is, basically, a real kind of badass attitude that is not present in the majority of other styles of music."

Jeremy Kleynhans - drums

Born in Canada. Jeremy lived in South Africa for most of his childhood and then moved back to Canada after finishing high school. Jeremy was inspired to pick up the sticks after a trip to Zimbabwe (try to top that for a "reason I started drumming" story). A precision powerhouse both live and in the studio. Jeremy begs the question "How does that guy do that !?"

Dave Webb - acoustic and electric guitars, synthesizer pedals

Born in Canada. Currently living just West of Toronto, Canada. In Dave's words "I don't make music because I want to, I make music because I have to. There is no feeling like a great guitar plugged into a great amp pushing great tone." Dave is a quiet guy with a very loud guitar. He uses Lado custom guitars exclusively and Soldano amplifiers (they go to 'leven).
